ABOUT

In 1965, Construction was much different than today. It was all done with hand tools. The first power tool purchased by Lester Wagler was a skill saw. Although, using hand tools didn’t slow the growth of the company. During these times, people were willing to wait a year or longer for their new homes.

During the year 1973, Merle Wagler was born into the home of Lester and Ida Mae Wagler. Merle was raised on the same standards that were set for the company. He grew up working along the sides of Lester and his brothers, learning the trade.

Around 1985, Lester Wagler added a new aspect to his business. He went into partnership with Marvin Wittmer to form Southern Indiana Concrete. They specialized in Concrete poured walls, footers and floors. This is where Merle learned the trade of Concrete. This partnership continued into the early 1990’s, then Marvin Wittmer bought out the shares that Lester Wagler had in Southern Indiana Concrete and renamed it Wittmer Concrete. Soon after that, Lester started to spend his winters in Sarasota, Florida, framing new homes. In the summer time, Lester would return to Indiana to pour concrete floors for storage units. Merle worked with Lester part of the time, and he continued to work with local contractors. In 1997 Lester decided to move full time to Florida, and built homes there until 2009. In 2009, Lester became semi-retired and moved back to Indiana with his family. Today, Lester is a very positive component in advising M & J’ s Quality Construction currently.

In the meantime….

M & J’s Quality Construction was formed in 2005, when Merle and his brother-in-law Justin Yoder went into partnership. They started their business with re-roofing and small remodeling jobs. In 2009, they added seamless guttering to their business. Then in 2012, Justin Yoder was given the opportunity to fulfill his dream and return back to the farm. Justin sold his shares in M & J’s Quality Construction to Angela. In 2016, M & J’s bought out Wittmer Concrete.
